Total Knee Replacement
A knee replacement is the first step. Real progress happens through guided rehabilitation. At City South Physio, we’ll help you restore movement, build strength, and regain confidence. From walking and stairs to the activities you love, our tailored rehab ensures long-term results and close support with your surgeon.
Overview
A total knee replacement can give you a new lease on life — but the real success comes from the rehabilitation afterwards. We know after the surgery there can be a considerable amount of pain, but we will work with you to ensure that the short-term pain is worth the long-term gain for you!
In the first phase, we focus on restoring essential movements like bending and straightening the knee, reducing swelling, and re-establishing your walking pattern. Often, this walking pattern is better than before the surgery due to the reduction in a significant amount of the arthritis. As you build confidence, we’ll introduce progressive strengthening of the surrounding muscles to stabilise and protect your new joint.
Throughout your rehab, we will work on going up and down stairs, improving your balance and increasing your walking tolerance too. Whether your goal is walking pain-free, gardening, or getting back to golf, we’ll build your program around what matters most to you.
We work closely with your orthopaedic surgeon and we will keep them updated on all of the milestones you achieve with us along the way. Think of us like the perfect conduit between you as the patient, and a direct line to the surgeon.
