Total Hip Replacement
A hip replacement is only the beginning of recovery. At City South Physio, we guide you through every stage — from safe walking and easing stiffness to strengthening key muscles and restoring stability. With tailored rehab, we’ll help you return confidently to the activities and lifestyle you love.
Overview
A total hip replacement can restore mobility and freedom after years of stiffness, pain, and arthritis. But the surgery is only the first step — true success comes from carefully guided rehabilitation. At City South Physio, we’ll support you through every stage of recovery so your new hip feels strong, stable, and ready for daily life.
In the early phase, we focus on safe walking patterns, reducing stiffness in the hip joint, and gently restoring the ability to bend, straighten, and gently rotate the hip. Many patients notice they are able to walk very well, and relatively easily, post operatively. But we will give you structured rehab beyond that to ensure you get lasting results.
Throughout the rehab, we’ll target the key muscle groups that protect your hip: the glutes, hip flexors, and your core strength. This will give you greater joint stability and get you walking, moving, and even jumping, again.
We will challenge and progress you every step of the way. We will improve your ability to move the hip up and down stairs, get in and out of bed, reduce your risk of a fall and much more! Whether your goals are gardening, travelling, or returning to golf, we’ll tailor your rehab specifically to your lifestyle.
